Terrorist Attack on Embassy of Iran in Mazar Sharif
Who Killed Us?
Eight Iranian diplomats along with a journalist were killed in a terrorist attack in the northern Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif in 1998. Many was of the opinion that Taliban was behind the attack, but the militant group denied its involvement. Nearly 20 years on, no individual or group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack and their deaths are still shrouded in mystery. “Who Killed Us” is a documentary that seeks to shed light on the reasons behind the assassination of the diplomats and the journalist. The narrator of the film is Allahmadad Shahsavan, a diplomat who had a narrow escape from the attack. He recounts how unidentified individuals launched an attack against Iran’s embassy and killed the Iranians. The camera follows him inside the embassy and the place where the diplomats had been martyred. In the documentary, a member of Pakistan’s army, speaking on the condition of anonymity, reveals the identity of those who were behind the raid.
