TEHRAN (AIPFF) – The first press conference of the 2nd Ammar Int’l Popular Film Festival was held on October 2nd and participants including Jalili, head of Ammar policy making council and Talebzadeh, APFF secretary, discussed the latest issues about the APFFs new edition.

Jalili said that for the Iranian cinema to progress art, entertainment and media are crucial. “One of the most important elements in cinema is its appealingness and receptivity…” said Jalili. He added that transition towards a perfect cinema industry is one of the strategic aims of Ammar Popular Film Festival, A cinema which pays attention to the needs of society. He stated that art and entertainment are of utmost importance, but content and subjects are also significant. Head of APFF policy making council said that APFF advocates a cinema which deals with problems…. “Critical cinema has two types, the first type discusses social and economic issues and tries to solve them but the second one tends to smear and vilify the society, which is in fact a “dark cinema”.” He mentioned that APFF does not advocate a cinema which just focuses on dark sides and does not pay attention to the humanitarian and bright sides of societies.

Talebzadeh, the APFF secretary, discussed the APFF status quo. He said: “We are so much hopeful about this edition, within a short period of time Ammar Festival has received many good works…”

At the end of the conference Jalili added that even presentation software and formats which enable one to create a narrative style, might in future lead to a new category, and “we should pay attention to these new presentation narratives.”

The 2nd Ammar Popular Film Festival has recently announced a call for entries in a wide variety of topics including social, economic, cultural and human rights issues.  The festival is going to be held in January, 2015.
