TEHRAN (AIPFF) – Miguel Littin, famoused as an anti-coup chilean filmmaker Emphasised: Cinematographer’s compulsory duty is illustrating such realities as pain of Palestinians.

Littin said in a meeting with Talebzadeh, the secretary of Ammar Film Festival, “I believe a day will come when we are all in peace though our voice is not so much heard but our duty is to link nations with each other.”

Being welcomed by Talebzadeh and to a question posed by him on his unnoticed filmmaking in Chile, Littin said, “For the purpose, before everything I chose the people I wished and within framework of several commercial groups of various nationalities like Dutch, French, Italian and Chilean, I arrived in Chile while none of the people did know me.”

He went on to say, “During the presence, I went to all the regions if necessary. We even went deep inside mines; we did go to all ports, villages, mountains and wherever we knew there were groups fighting government of Pinochet. We even entered presidential palace and talked to people because wanted to show condition of the country.”

Littin said his wife had made all the coordination for the dangerous trip. “After the visit, a film and book on the issue was published and today, I am present in Iran after overcoming all the dangers.”

To a question by Talebzadeh about his Palestinian origin and the works he had made about that, he said, “When present in Palestine and taking photos for my film, I experienced more dangers since clandestine presence.”

The Chilean filmmaker said, “When in Palestine, I asked a child, whose foot was cut, “Do you know anything about love or friendship?” and he replied, “How could I know anything about likes when my foot is cut.”

He added, “For my other documentary, the “last month”, part of which deals with Palestinians’ immigration to northern Chile, when I went to occupied Palestine, Israeli forces were harshly teasing.”

Littin noted, “Palestine is part of my history as it is for years in violence and every day children and youth are killed due to bullying of Israel and tanks destroy schools.”

He said, “Palestine condition is the worst part of mankind history and the land is getting forgotten. Even in certain occasions, they do not receive their necessary items due to Israelis’ policies and they are under siege.”

Littin pointed out, “When I was in Palestine, I did feel the loneliness of this land; Israeli forces ordered stops and had many checkings. People of Palestine tolerate much hardship and Israeli forces by their measures disrespected Palestinians’ pride.”

Noting that Israelis treat Palestinians like animals. “Anybody seeing such things should show them to others as well because there are ample reasons to motivate anything done for the Palestinian people and their pains and sufferings should be shown to the world people; in fact, this is one of our duties and compulsory responsibilities.”

On the issue, Nader Talebzadeh said, “Since Islamic Revolution and designation of the International Quds Day by the late Imam Khomeini, countdown has begun for Israel and liberation of Palestine. That’s one of the reasons, west used it as a pretest to issue sanctions against Iran.”

Israel was defeated by Hizbollah in the 33-day war, he said, adding, “Many people of Iran wait a day will come to act for liberation of Quds. The ongoing conflicts in the region are prelude to the big battle while the world media do not reflect the reality on Palestine.”

Wife of Miguel Littin said on the issue, “When I came to Iran, I found it totally different with what the world mass media had presented; contrary to the media publicity, people of Iran are happy, kind and strong.”

Commenting on the issue, Littin, the Chilean filmmaker, says, “A picture is times more valuable than several lectures; Had we been able to illustrate realities, various nations, representing various cultures and languages, could have become wiser and more informed and could thus have joined hands and voices and stood domination and war.”

More on the issue, he said, “That’s among main duties of cinema and cinematographer. They should serve society and people and that’s one of the reasons for my presence.”

Nader Talebzadeh then referred to his 13-part serial on Jesus and said, “Islamic Revolution of Iran has given impetus to the world history. After the revolution, the US created such incidents like the 9/11 and with some media lies, it provided itself with a pretext to wage war on Afghanistan and Iraq.”

Littin said, “I am a cinematographer always studying and learning and today, I am in a center affiliated to Children State University. I am busy with teaching and training young cinematographers.”

He then referred to some of his films like Sandino and Alsino and the Condor and said, “I support any revolutionary move and any campaign wherever they might be. Due to the same reasons, I hold educational workshops outside Chile and in Latin America.”

Littin said, “It is too much important for me to be present wherever needed like Chile, Argentina, Colombia and Brazil. To have a revolutionary cinema, we should teach well and transfer our experiences like a farmer who plants and harvests.”

To a question by Talebzadeh about Iranian people’s rich culture, he said, “When comparing cultures of Iran and Chile, I do observe a large gap; the media, however, should act in a way that the struggling nations be beside each other. Of course, dialogue and talks are the only solution to the problem so that we would be able to provide a good and better future for mankind.”

He emphasized, “The world hegemonic powers do not wish nations get closer to each other. Due to the same reason, through their media, they deprive us of having sound information; however, we should look for a way and method to link nations with each other; No matter, it would be Chile or Iran because I mean nations should be linked globally. Chilean vernaculars have a famous proverb: Man belongs to the Earth not the Earth that belongs to Man.”

Littin maintained, “I believe a day will come for all of us to live in peace, though our voice is not well heard.”

Commenting on filmmaking status in Iran and Chile, Littin said, “After restoration of democracy, Chilean cinema has launched a new move. Now, perhaps 15 films are produced and there are few strong works in the list.”

He said arts is connected with all social aspects of a nation. “There are good young filmmakers in Chile who deal with such social issues as coup. Here, the duty of me and others like me is guiding and directing such activities. Of course, there are some cinematographers in Chile, who are festival or commercial oriented, but most young Chilean filmmakers are loyal to the aspirations of the Chilean community.”
