TEHRAN (AIPFF) – On the first day of AIPFF, the documentary “Inheritance”, directed by Cambiz Amir-khosravi, is going to be screened on Wednesday, 24th of August in Soureh Hall of Howzeh Honari at 20:30 p.m.

In 2011, in an unusual twist of fate, Cambiz Amir-Khosravi discovered the truth about his father and the shocking role he played in the history of modern Iran. Previously all he knew was that his father had been the Minister of Finance under Reza Shah. In 1953, as a nine year old boy, he had no idea that he was an eyewitness to the CIA-led coup that overthrew the democratic government of Dr. Mohammed Mossaddegh, and returned the Shah to power. Inheritance highlights the realities distorted by the CIA-led coup till now.

August 19, 1953, was not only a life changing event for Amir-Khosravi but, more importantly, for the nation of Iran and the complex relationship between Iran and US before the Islamic revolution of 1979.

Amir-Khosravi is a widely recognized, award-winning documentary film and video producer whose work ranges back to the early 1980s. He’s also a well-known figure in the Woodstock area. Before Inheritance, he did his adopted hometown a solid with the documentary Woodstock: In Search of Utopia – what he calls an unknown tale of Woodstock, told by and about the artists who helped create it. Inheritance is a film about a search of a different kind, one that’s simultaneously vast and personal.

The 3rd edition of Ammar International Popular Film Festival is on the 24th of August in Teheran, capital city of Iran. The date of the festival is coincided with the 63rd anniversary of the US-sponsored 1953 coup d’état against the government of Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadeq.

The mission of Ammar festival is to help the world become familiarized with the Iranian culture and promote the true image of Iran and the Iranian people.
