Miguel Littin; A Director from end of the world

The author was successful two days ago to see with his own eyes the fabulous figure of Chilean and Latin American cinema on earth next to himself. An old man - about 76 years of age – that one can guess the brilliance and glory of his youngness only by gazing at his eyes.

TEHRAN (AIPFF) – As seen on the map, Chile is a tiny swathe of land in the far end of the western part of South America. That’s the point when a tall and long mountain is separated from Argentina. Due to this geographical condition, people of Chile sometimes consider themselves as residents of the eternal world. Of course, Australian people attribute the same terminology to themselves. But, perhaps people of Chile might deserve more to use the concept. Miguel Littin is a film director from the same land. To introduce Littin very briefly, we can ask him: Do you know Diego Maradona and his standing in football? In Latin American cinema, Miguel Littin might be another Diego Maradona. Let’s say he is highly well-known and popular as he is adventurist and interested in the superficially naughty gestures.

The author was successful two days ago to see with his own eyes the fabulous figure of Chilean and Latin American cinema on earth next to himself. An Oldman – about 76 years of age – that one can guess the brilliance and glory of his youngness only by gazing at his eyes. This way, one can believe how this dignified old man of today could once destabilize not just a third world state but several Latin American states. His shining eyes do tell you, “Don’t be deceived by the superficial glory and calmness! The owner of the dark brown eyes can still sit on the table to compile a full partisan play script. The partisan, who can aim clearly the lens of camera and make explosive films by combining simple sequences and symbols.

Miguel Littin, aged 76, can still draw the sketch of a horse by his artist fingers in the midst of a fully formal and serious interview. However, in view of the author, the magic power of this Chilean film director is hidden still in his eyes. The eyes in which there is no state of invasion; however, one can see something in half an hour tour in Tehran’s bazaar and explain that certain people have not seen anything for 30 years or have not been willing to see. He says:

I do see pride and feeling of honor in the face of an old carrier of bazaar. I see the bypassing people as motivated individuals. Similarly, I see joy of life, feeling of security and passion in Iranian ladies. The women who have high hope in the future of the children they have hugged. And the people who eat well and give importance to their appearance and clothes and enjoy shopping in the market. Your fruit and dried fruit shops show that people here have diversified flavors. Different smells of dish in the bazaar show that like people of Latin America you give importance to the quality of food and diversified flavor. (Perhaps, you do not pay attention to food and beverages as just the ones filling up your stomachs. Rather, what’s of importance is enjoying the dish.) In sum, a large number of people I did see in the central bazaar of your city, have high motivations for their future; let’s say, there are many things that people still wish to attain. However, it is not yet clear whether you are concerned with your general security.
