Movie “The Martyr” on Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr Screened

TEHRAN (AIPFF) - Ammar Popular Film Festival (APFF) hosted a ceremony to screen movie "The Martyr" about the life, activities and execution of Martyr Ayatollah Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr by Saddam Hossein at its secretariat in Tehran, Iran.

TEHRAN (AIPFF) – Ammar Popular Film Festival (APFF) hosted a ceremony to screen movie “The Martyr” about the life, activities and execution of Martyr Ayatollah Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr by Saddam Hossein at its secretariat in Tehran, Iran.
AIPFF displayed the film Thursday night in a ceremony that was held in the presence of a number of Iraqi students studying at Tehran University as well as the manager of the Iraqi embassy in Tehran.
Directed by Abdul-Aleem Taher, the film chronicles the martyr’s life events with focus on his simple life. Furthermore, the work sheds light on the ayatollah’s courageous campaign against the then-ruling Iraqi monarch Saddam Hossein at the time he reined over Iraq and took over his predecessor’s crown.

The film was previously screened at the 34^th edition of the international section of Fajr Film Festival as well as the foreign films section of the 14^th Resistance Film Festival.
Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr (born on March 1, 1935) was an Iraqi Shia cleric, philosopher, and ideological founder of the Islamic Dawa Party. He is the father-in-law of Muqtada al-Sadr and also a cousin of Imam Musa as-Sadr. His father Haydar al-Sadr was a well-respected high-ranking Shi’a cleric. Muhammad Baqir Al-Sadr was executed in 1980 under the Saddam Hussein regime.
