TEHRAN (AIPFF) – So far, as many as 3,000 works by foreign participants and 1,500 works by Iranian filmmakers have been submitted to AIPFF, almost two times the previous edition’s submissions.
Given the large number of submissions, the 3rd AIPFF’s international section is being held independently of its Iran section so the works can be better screened by the panel of judges for the festival.
Accordingly, AIPFF secretariat has extended deadline for submission of international works to March 1, 2016. The date of holding the international section is yet to be announced. Interested international filmmakers may submit their works by the site.
APFF was formed in 2010 after a popular, social movement in Iran which followed the 2009 presidential election. APFF considers films with liberating, independence-seeking and intellectual content.
The name of the festival, Ammar, has been driven from this very feature of the event that is meant to reveal the truth. Ammar Yasir was one of the Prophet’s closest companions who is remembered by Muslims as an epitome of enlightenment.
