In the Iranian countryside, an old blind farmer named Mashti Esmaeil toils through the seasons of sowing and harvest. He usually lives on his farm where he cultivates rice, three hours’ walk from the house of his wife and daughter. With an uplifting degree of independence despite his blindness, he also proves in this affectionate portrait to be a serene and wise man with an incredible sense of humor. A gracious tribute to a certain predisposition to happiness.

Mashti Esmaeil is Mahdi’s latest work that has garnered him numerous international awards such as Special Jury Award at Ammar Popular Film Festival 2012.

9th Ecozine Film Festival, International Film and Environment of Zaragoza held in May 2016 which was Organized by Asociación Cultural Ecozine and City of Zaragoza.
